Exciting news

I have bumbled along for my 50 something years, delighting in the wonderful and bemoaning the difficult.

The latest news about Daisy and Peter is definitely one of the delights. Daisy is to become our new daughter! I love the whole story...Peter's excitement, his plan to make the proposal perfect in location and execution. And apparently it all went according to plan.

We are so happy, Paul and I, for the newly engaged couple.

Congratulations!

tags: none

license plate

As I was driving the other day I saw a license plate with "uxorious". Bugged me no end that I couldn't come up with the exact definition altho I had it narrowed down to 2. Was SO pleased when I looked it up that one of my options was correct! Anyone want to take a stab at it?

BTW, please check out spelling of "tag" directives...spelling error. Very painful

tags: none

Just want to tell the Lonely Peon that I'd go on his site more often if I could...hard to get to everything.

Feeling punkish today; I think every early March this is inevitable when Winter just refuses to let up on its stronghold. Cold. Remnants of grey snow, icy patches on the sidewalk challenge safe walking excursions.

Looking forward to trip to the UK and seeing Second Son.

tags: none

Nervous but excited

Getting excited about my art opening tomorrow night, the 5th. Am showing with 2 other women and our stuff is very diverse...One abstract, another does these beautiful and painstakingly stroked color pencil drawings.

My oils are pretty eclectic...Different styles, different subjects. I'm excited but a wreck. I'm afraid my work isn't the type that one wants in his living room. Ah well. Bottom line: it's party, and everyone loves a party, right?!

tags: none

weird pile in garage

A 10" high pile of rubble, comprised of small rocks and dirt, has mysteriously accumulated alongside the interior garage east wall. Clearly critter created. But from where? On the exterior side of the wall a sidewalk abuts closely to the stucco. So even if chipmunks are burrowing, they'd have to go under the sidewalk. And, what? Carry debris with them? We had a new garage floor poured maybe 20 years ago. Rubble from underneath?

Such a mystery.

tags: none

Back from the Hollow... fun, but a tease. Only two nights which wasn't enough. And no Nellie! Loved seeing Saule-ville on the way home and catching up with the cousins.

Abby starts school tomorrow which is the tip-off for the fall season. What happened here? Where did the summer go?

My teacher friends are no longer available for walks.

Nell's ensconced in her adventure, ready to review fun macro and micro econ facts with her new friends and anticipate other challenging stuff.

Maggie's thoughts are no longer on 914 and friend visits but on her new apartment search and new students.

Peter's refining hair cut dodges with his mother and will go back unruly headed and sooner than we want.

Will's bored and wants to be entertaining his friends more than us.

How could this all happen so fast??

We have loved every minute of it! Good luck to all of you guys. Luke, keep us posted.

tags: none

Summer finally has come to Chicago! Deliciously hot, muggy, and rainy. Sat on the front screened porch and read the newspaper and my current book, a novel by the Swedish author, Henning Mankell, while waiting for the storm to blow in. Great summer smells. Heaven.

Happy to welcome Avalantern!

tags: none
