hello avalantern, i'm back! new profile picture and all

so friends, it's been awhile. and now im back with my no spell-check crappy blog posting ways, i even have a new profile picture. the past 5 months have been insanely busy for me, so when my client decided to postpone the second half of my project, so i took off to la for a week.

last week was great. i got into la friday night just before memorial day weekend. lisa and i stayed in and had "the business"...it's a delightful drink not an act of sexual touching. two shots of gin, some honey and a whole lemon...it's delicious and dangerous. we also started to watch it's always sunny in Philadelphia, which is sexual intercourse* hilarious. i know im a little behind and maybe everyone is already bored with this show, but i think its great. after that we went straight to bed.

saturday! the day my true vacation started. friends of mine met up at lisas place, and we were going to leave at 11 am for big bear lake (lisas parents own a cabin up there). well "the business" delayed our depature about 45 mins...not bad though. once up in big bear the fun started. there were 9 of us there for the weekend. the weather was perfect. mid 70's cool breeze. once up there we went out gathered food and drinks for dinner and the ensuing weekend. for dinner we grilled huge steaks and brats and whiskey sours and dark n' stormies (side note: my friend makes a hell of a whiskey sour...freezes it so it's almost a slushy...perfect) after dinner we chilled for a bit, then every squeezed into the hot tub...great wat to kick off the weekend. the next day started off with a great breakfast and then we went hiking up castle rock, a short 1-2 mile hike up the mountain side, followed by bouldering up some large rocks for an incredible view. once we got back we all attempted to play tennis..well a few had played in high school. so, while they played...the rest of us attempted to play. oh i almost forgot. since lisa and i couldnt be together for my birthday, when i got back friday night she gave me my gifts. once was a rad shirt the other, a wicked tennis racket. she also suprised me on my birthday by having cupcakes delivered to my work...woot! anyway, back to the weekend. after tennis we were hoping for sip on whiskey sours and lay in the sun...but my friend failed us and they werent ready in time. so we chilled...all thoroughly exhausted. later that night, one of the most epic games of pictionary i have ever participated in...we won, naturally. though the other teams had to battle some language issues. lots of fun. more hot tubbing. on monday we departed back to the la area.

monday! not exactly sure what happened...i think we watched hockey..or i watched hockey and she worked. actually, that monday doesn't deserve the previous exclamation point

tuesday! went down to torrance, ate at rascals! had a pastrami sandwich, quite good. then went back to lisas parents house, were i beat her relentlessly.....in ping pong. after ping pong we went out to eat with her parents, sister and sister bf. after dinner we met up with lisas friends. one was in town from new york...the next 3 hours was girl talk...gah..

wednesday! we went to the beach! we were originally going to wake up and get down to the beach early and possibly run by the beach...that didnt happen. but the beach was great, met with lisas friend from new york. it was completely desserted but the weather was great. i didnt want to burn so i made sure to cover myself with sun screen. it was the spray on kind. after the beach we stopped by lisas parents place, we didnt want to leave back to pasadena during rush hour. once back at lisas parents, i noticed my stomach had started to burn...i removed by shirt to find out that the sun screen did not work...i looked at my back and there was a huge "Z"...lisa is not the greatest at applying spray on sun screen. anyway life was good. once back to pasadena we cleaned up and took off to meet friends at a bar dubbed the thirsty crow. once we got there, my friends gf was all a twitter...apparently THE don draper from mad men was over in the corner having a drink. once lisa heard about this she decided she need to look for her friend in that area of the bar. after the girls settled down i was treated to an amazing drink "the thirsty crow" (clever how they named the drink after the bar) it was a rye whiskey with ginger beer and bitters and i believe a little lemon. delicious. on the way home i hit some funny freeway that made the car vibrate...stupid road

thursday! disneyland!!!! my friend used to work at disneyland designing and building the rides, so he had connections to get us in for free...i wasnt going to pay 120 bucks for a day to sit around with over weight kids. this time we left on time. promptly at 845. 5 miles from lisas place her car starts to vibrate...uh oh, maybe last nights vibration wasnt the road. i pull off the highway and the car smells like burning, just like ralph's berries tasted. we take it to the nissan dealership and go back to lisas place...sigh...no disneyland. nissan calls, says the car can be fixed by the end of the day and they will send a shuttle to pick us up and bring us back tot he dealership around 5. works out perfectly, game one of the NBA finals starts at 6. 5:40 rolls around...the dude isnt here...lisa is getting anxious..fast forward a little, we get the car and make it back in time to catch most of the game.

friday! i think we laid around most of the day. we went shopping a little bit. hockey game was on...except lisa didnt have versus channel s i had to stream it and had it blown up on her tv...it was just colored blocks moving around..hawks lost too. friday night we met up with some of lisas friend in ktown. ah, my beloved ktown how i missed your dirty crowded korean bars. we get there...whats this...oh wait...i forgot, friday night after th hockey game lisa took me out for my birthday dinner at arroyo chop house. it was fantastic. i had ribeye and she had king crab legs...after that on to ktown. so we get to ktown and the bar..is brand new...empty...nothing like what i wanted..oh well, it was fun having a beer and chatting.

saturday! im getting tired of typing...lots of driving, hanging out in santa monica...more driving...ended up at douchebag central bar...went home..slept.

sunday! stayed the night in torrance at lisas parents because we didnt want to drive back to pasadena. we went out got delicious sandwiches and today was sports day! nba finals and stanley cup finals, woot! hawks killed! what an amazing game! lakers lost though...lisa not happy. after that went to bed early to catch an early flight and head right into work monday morning

ok as per request of some unanswered emails and messages i have decided to make a post and catch everyone up on my life...

to starts things off, i am officially a grown up and have my first salary job...boo yeah!! as some of you know i was hired at frog design as an intern back in sept...i then transitioned into a temp employee when the new year began...i think i was costing them too much money in overtime. anyway, i think it was about two weeks i signed the contract.

so with going on full time, that means im stuck in sf for awhile...so for the past 2-3 weeks ive been searching for a permanent place...my current living situation was great for my temporary stay, but i want something more, and closer to my work..it took me a little while to find a place, i want month to month...might want to leave in less than a year...more on that another day.

anyway...im bored with this...maybe ill add more later

stuck at work, once again...blah

it 6:30 sunday evening and im in the studio rendering away...ugh i really dotn want to be at work...im bored and frustrated because i spent 3 hrs trying to get programs to sexual intercourse* work...so im a little on edge...im not going to hit delete either during this post, so what what ever is typed will have to stay.

anyway i want to say i hope avalopes start to post more lblogs soon or else well have to shut avalantern down. i heard it from the big man. and hes not happy poop* i jsut delete. this post will probably also contiain i hit delete again dammit. this post will most likely contain a lot naghuty words...sexual intercourse*...hehe...back to what i was saying, the head man, the dink hads informed me that if nonone decides to use avalantern the way its supposed to be used he will SHUT IT DOWN. im woarning u all becausee we all want and love avalantern and would never want it to happen. alos u guys shame on u for not plsting more and contributing to this loveley community i mean sexual intercourse*...so dristrecpectfull to the dink u see that i didnt hit delete and tried to fix the word...i guess i should hit spaceabar and retype it rather than trying to fix it mid word.peace saule out

the ladder theory

so i once heard this theory from a fellow friend: the ladder theory...

this theory states that one cannot date anyone who is more than two steps higher or lower on the ladder than their own position. for example, let's say you on step 7 on the ladder, you probably won't date anyone lower than a step 5 and you cannot land anyone higher than a step 9...look around this makes perfect sense. though there are blips and exceptions, when money gets tossed into the equation etc.

ive told this theory to many people and they all see the light, they think it's brilliant. my own girlfriend has begun to spread the word as well. she thinks peter illustrated the circumstance so well, just like a true artist!

so i'm still at work...working away...i seem to keep getting put on projects that keep me at work late. i was at the studio until 4 am the other night (on the bright side of things, i made enough money that day to pay rent for the month)...woot, back in at 8:30 the following morning to rush and put the final touches on a presentation. the next day was tiring, but i got to go home at 5:45, win? so today is thursday and im here again, and it looks like the end isn't close. i may just go home now, and have to stay longer tomorrow night. blah, working on friday night. hopefully i can go home before midnight then...

update on my life

abstracts are dumb...whats the point of the title?

anyway. my life and an update on it. once again, another disclaimer, i dont proofread or spell check...the dink can do this if he truly wants to. so if i remember correctly the last time i posted anything of true value for avalopes to read was 3 months ago right before or right after i started my internship at frog. well a lot has changed in the past 3 months and i thought i would share.

i've lost 20 lbs and shaved off my goatee. that's not to say im clean shaven, i still shave (err trim) once a week, just like house, as i found out on a recent episode! i've decided i dont like SF and really miss LA. maybe it's because ive only been here for 3 months and SF has yet to grow on me. it took me 3 years to fall for LA. but i really dont like SF, i think id love to live somewhere else and visit here. but i dont see anything it has to offer better than LA. and dont u dare say PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION, cause thats bullshit. its unreliable and dirty. and i if i were in la i could drive myself to the same type of destination quicker and be on to another task before the bus even arrived. im all about efficiency, and public transportation in the US is not efficient...i hate waiting. unfortunately the main design firms are in SF...so im stuck here for right now...unless i find a gig in socal.

that said, i really like frog. ive had a great time working here, have fine tuned my ping pong skills and challenge any avalope to a game. they recently offered me a temp position starting in january, which means increased pay. and before tahnksgiving weekend i was 99% sure i would take it, but after spending 4 days back in LA i really do miss LA...and now i want to find a job there in the next week so i can possibly turn down frogs offer and move back to la. im not banking on it, and i wont hate being at frog next spring...but i can hope yea?

so thanksgiving weekend was a blast...im still tired from it. i got in late wednesday night after a crazy week at work...35 hrs between mon/tues...so as soon as i got in i knocked out. thursday had to wake up early to head to lisas parents to help with thanksigivng stuff. once that was done we headed to lisas grandmas for the feast. we ate and played a lot of badmitton, some volleyball and threw the football around...once again exhausted. to keep a tradition going (for some reason i always end up at the movie theater on thanksgiving) lisa and i went to see fantastic mr fox. and well it wsa far from fantastic, yet it was not bad at all...it was nothing i guess...i came out of the movie feeling nothing...i didnt liek the movie i didnt hate the movie, there were no memorable parts good or bad...i have never felt this way abotu a movie...but even that statement is weird because i didnt feel anything towards this movie...its like i watched nothing...very weird. anyway, friday lisa and i woke up early (5 am) to go to sports chalet and buy a ping pong table for super cheap. once purchased we went back to lisas parents and knocked out for a few hours. lisas sisters bf came over later and we went to pick up the table. once home we began to set it up which took 3-4 hrs. finally we got to play ping pong and it was well worth it. friday night lisa and i stumbled upon some great cab at the local liqour store and watched a movie while we snacked on dark chocolate and later salami and cheese...and carrs water crackers of course. very nice night. saturday finally after a nice night of sleep was well rested to take ont he day. lisa and i met up with a good buddy of mine and his gf for a late breakfast which was delicious and then went to a coffee joint where i got some mexican hot chocolate. once again delicious. after that lisa jon and i played tennis...tennis is something new for me. ive played 3 times in the past two months and one before about 13 years ago with my aunt kate at sleepy hollow. i suck...i have potential, i can hit it really hard...i jsut either hit it like a ping pong ball and it goes into the net or like a baseball and it goes soaring out of play...and i mean soaring...but im getting better. and tennis was fun. once again exhausted we headed back to lisas where i cleaned up and we went to her friends house warming party. here we made dumplings which were so good and the friend and her bf had cooked a turkey...which was great as well...we were there for a few hrs and had to leave because i had to attend another house warming party for my friend. so we headed across town and arrived at my friends new house. played some drinking games there had some good laughs and were out of there around 1 am...night over. sunday was much more mellow. lis and i made breakfast and eased into the day. went ice skating mid day...first time in a rink since friday night skating at centennial. ice in the desert...means extremes crappy ice...reynolds lake has better ice in the winter. after skating went to play tennis again...getting a tad better but still no good. after tennis had to rush home clean up and head out to meet lisas family for sushi dinner. it was a good dinner very satisfying. after dinner i went to go [pick up my jacket and headphones which were in my jacket at housewarming party 1's house...they owners were not home...argh...means i have to fly without my headphones, something i hate doing. after that just went home and relaxed. flew out the next morning and took the train into work.

overall it was a great weekend...and i didnt get to do half the things i wanted to. oh well i will be back in two weeks, so all is not lost. back to work i guess..

long weekend (bad word count: 2)

OK, so this blog will be more a run on rant of what ive been doing, what i will be doing. just trying to kill some time, i dont want to work and i supervisor isnt in yet...so yay. ugh light jsut turned off...stupid motion sensing lights...i dont want to have to do jumping jacks while i work. anyway, ill start off with what i have been doing. the last three weeks i have been at frog design, as most of you know. oh to let you know this blog will have no grammar or spell check performed, it also will have many errors regarding format...the dot dot dot is usually when im pausing as if i was telling you this in person...that was just to annoy you. ok back to frog. so ive been doing this, argh stupid windows update, i dont want to restart now. ok now onto frog again. ive been having a blast. working hard actually. i havent done any female dog* work yet, ive been doing reeeal design work. started off easy with some PSing (thats photoshopping for you newbs) basically shading and such for a project that had a big presentation coming up. i worked on that for a few days until the presentation and then jumped ship onto another project which had jsut kicked off its research phase....ok honestly whent i type "just" i always type "jsut" i freaking hate it and ive tried to correct it but argh...still..ok so the new porject is super top secret...its a grey box...nothing to get excited about, but i actually started enjoying it. participated in everything, which was nice, and not only that we were actually using reserach processes they taught us in school! how cool is that, i didnt just waste 4 years of my life. so it was two weeks worth of research and then onto design. we spent the next week comign up with design languages...argh i jsut want to frea....you see JSUT...dammit...i just want to sketch...but i learned a lot when we came up with the design language, and really backing it up with a story. i really like it here! finally the following week, DESIGN! it's been nice to design, even if it is a box, but we have solid design languages we can a pply and im having a blast designing it, i came up with a really cool idea i think last night. but with all this great stuff happening something has to go wrong...i have to come in sunday to work...argh...miss my football day, but i think i get overtime, i have to get it preapproved. and i like money. so thats good. other than the actually work business at frog, the social aspect is great, everyone is super cool..so far...everyday at 4 we have coffee time, it where we all can go down tot he kitchen and they prepared snacks for us, snadwiches and fruits veggies, other days its dessert day and others bbq wing day...stuf fliek that...also they havea pool table and ping pong table down there and foosball and video games, its great! ive only played ping pong here, which i really enjoy and some people are really good here. i want to play pool so i can run the table, everyone knows saules dominate in pool, thanks dad! moving on from frog.

you see there i gave u a little space to catch ur breath..if you made it this far...so this past weekend i finally went back to la, just a quick trip, 100 bucks round trip. got in saturday morning around 9, lisa picked me up. we headed over to her parents house...stupid sexual intercourse* windows update, i dont not want to restart not. we chilled at her parents place for a couple hrs and had breakfast, its nice cause they live close to the beach and that was our plan for the day. so around noon we headed down tot he beach and chilled relaxed played in the waves, it was great fun. we then walked over to one of the bars and had a couple drinks with a friend of mine. after getting slightly buzzed we headed off to another bar to meet a couple of lisas friends. had a few more drinks there, when we got the bill it was for 100 or so bucks, but it had an 80 dollar credit, this was strange but rather nice because the total for the bill was 20 DOLLARS...so we had a choice be a good citizen and report the problem, or pay and run...we did the latter, dont judge me...we did leave a 25 dollar tip though. so after that we went back to lisas parents and chilled for a little bit and headed off to dinner with them. theyre super nice people always fun to hang out with. after dinner we made it back up to pasadena area for some pool and drking to celebrate my friends bday...i got pretty buzzed, but dominated with pool...we played a lot of doubles and my partner and i could not be stopped...it was apparent when i was shooting for the 8-ball, someone called my name wihile i was doing practice strokes, i looked up stared at them and still shot and won the game...it was that kinda night. lots of fun. the next day was much more relaxing i was tired from playing all saturday and only being ablle to sleep for 4 hrs friday night cause i had to catch the plane...nothing major sunday, and then left early monday morning back to sf and went straight to work. now on to big things...

another breather space...ok so peter comes to town in one week! and im super excited. i jsut copied the whole blog entry in case something happens and i lose alll of my work because the save funciton doesnt work on avalanternn...anyway super excited for peter to get into town were heading up to napa valley with nell and going wine tasting, woohoo!!! and then after that going to muir forest home of re...OMG stupid windows update, i will bring death upon thee...home of the redwoods...woot! im tired of writing so ill leave it at that...yay for fun...saule out

woohoo

as of right now i have been living in the los angeles area for almost 4 years...i didnt like it at first, it was too hot, too dusty, too dirty. i always thought rain was on heading because everywhere i looked into the distance it was cloudy...of course this was just smog...as the months went on i made some friends, the pasadena area grew on me. eventually i discovered k-town, and that place is a blast. even though i started liking my surroundings, when my remaining terms came up, i began thinking how great it would be to get out of this dirty hot hell-hole. i mean traffic sucks. gah. so after 7th term i couldn't be more excited. 14 weeks and i am done with school and LA!!! but once my final term started i began to really like LA. i have no idea why. i know i had lots of great friends, but something else was keeping me here. i still wasn't very found of the extra hot weather and i still hate the smog. (sorry i jsut realized im jumping from past to future to present tense most likely...peter can edit it if we wants). i still dont know why i started to like la so much more, but by the time i graduated i wanted to stay in the area. after i graduated i found a beautiful girlfriend...honestly just straight up found her laying in the middle of the street. (kidding about the found, actually we watched nba playoffs together...what a great way to start a relationship!). so now i knew that i wanted to stay and see where this would go. i survived on freelance and crumbs left behind from friends. i had a great time over the summer. one of my best summers i think i have ever had. beach-wine tasting-beach-beach-vegas-beach-and jsut chilling.

anyway...im heading SF for the fall to work at Frog Design. (man i wish i could use that save function right now)

so now comes the tricky part. i am to start on sept 1. i leave for michigan tomorrow morning. im scheduled to return the following sunday on the 30th...which gives me the next day to drive up to sf and move in to a room and start my job the next day. i also have to find a place to stay up there in the next week as well as find a replacement for my room in my apt now..lots to do! and its temporary, so if i end up hating sf for some odd reason i can come back to my lovely smog filled city of LA!

yes it is true...

the zune music player for the computer is great! i enjoy it way more than itunes. i do not own a zune, nor do i really see myself owning one in the near future (unless i stumble upon a great deal of money, because the zune hd is oh so sexy). it's just looks so nice, is easy to browse. i havent played with it too much, so i dont know how well playlist things work...such as the smart playlist mumbo jumbo peteski likes. but i like it...clean, visual, just nice!

side note: media center is the best media center out there!

ok this blog is for real

so muse's latest album is available on itunes...well a 30 second preview for each song. avalopes close to me know that i love muse, and will listen to them whenever possible. i have been looking forward to this album for years. hoping it to be more epic than the last, but im scared now. after listening to the each preview it sounds like muse slept with mtv then had an affair with queen a little later on...this is not what i was preparing myself for...i really hope when the real songs come out its something that im used to, and not something ill be hearing on the radio 24/7 because it has a catchy beat...sigh.
